General information

Castilla y Leon

Vega de Nava Ribera del Duero Rosado is a wine from Castilla y Leon, region of Spain ,Castilla y Leon, located from the center of Spain to the north coast, is the largest administrative region of Spain. Traditionnaly, the agriculture was focused on cereal crops, however, viticulture progressively took an important part in the economic activity of Castilla y Leon. The surface devoted to vineyards fell significantly in the late 20th century to focus on quality rather than quantity. This region is now producing some of the most famous spanish wines like Ribeira del Duero, Toro, Rueda and Bierzo from varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha and Albillo. Despite the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean, the climate in Castilla y Leon is continental thanks to the protection of the mountains. The summers are hot and dry, the winters are sharp and cold. The day and night temperature shifts play a important role in the grape development by refreshing the vineyard during the night after a hot day. The main vineyards are gathered around the rivers where the soil is more generous. The Duero, flowing to Portugal, is one of them. It is in the valley of this famous river that Castilla y Leon's finest vineyards are found.

Ribera del Duero

Vega de Nava Ribera del Duero Rosado is located in Castilla y Leon's sub-region of Ribera del Duero ,The denomination of origin Ribera Del Duero, established in 1982, is located in the basin of the Douro River, south of the province of Burgos (autonomous region of Castile and Leon) on the great northern plateau of Spain. The soil is composed of sand and loamy sediments and limestone. The topography is relatively flat, the vineyard is situated between 750 and 850 meters above sea level, the few hills can peak at nearly 900m. Ribera Del Duero region is influenced by a climate both continental and Mediterranean: the rains are moderate, forcing the vine to extend its roots deep into the soil with a temperature range from -18 ° C in winter to over 40 ° C in summer. The Tempranillo is the main grape used in the Ribera Del Duero wines development. There is also the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Grenache Noir and Albillo. The wines are mainly red with a tiny part of rose wines. They belong to four distinct classes according to their age: Joven, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva. The designation of origin Ribera del Duero produced one of the best wines from Spain.

  • Tempranillo(100%)
The Tempranillo grape is the most famous grape of the Iberian Peninsula and the raw material to produce the world-renowned Spanish Rioja wine. The Tempranillo grape is called so in the regions of Rioja and Navarre, but takes many other local names: Cencibel in the Channel area, Ull de Llebre in Catalonia, Tinta del Pais in Ribera del Duero. The Tempranillo grape variety is well adapted to relatively cold regions of northern Spain. Altitude and sunshine added to a continental climate are the best factors to keep a nice acidity, velvety tannins and elegance in the final production. Cool temperature indeed gives to Tempranillo wines a bit of acidity due to its ability to absorb potassium from the soil through its roots. Deep red in its youth, the wine evolves towards more tawny color with aging, giving fruity, floral notes and sometimes a hint of licorice. This variety is well suited to mature in oak barrels; the micro oxygenation permitted by the wood amplifies the qualities of this grape.
