Chateau Vieille France Graves is a wine from Bordeaux,region of France ,Bordeaux vineyard is covering almost all the Gironde department is known for the excellent environment for growing wines. This vineyard offers a wide wine assortment with very specific characteristics. The Garonne river defines the main sub-division of the region. On the right bank, the regions of Blaye-Libournais and Entre-Deux-Mers. On the left bank, Graves, Medoc and Sauterne.


Chateau Vieille France Graves is located in Bordeaux's sub-region of Graves ,Is a wine form Graves. This AOC subregion spread on 60kms from the left Garonne bank to Langon. This ideal location offer to the vineyard a protection from the weather with the Landes forest. And a protection from the drought thanks to the Garonne.Graves territory takes its name from the characteristics of the soil. Graves soil is a mixture of gravel, clay and sand carried by the nearby river. This renowned vineyard covering 3500 ha is mainly composed of Merlot grapes (over 50%) of wines. The grape varieties are often supplemented with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.Graves red wines are well balanced between the power of the frame and the roundness of the volume. Dry white wines of the AOC are mainly produced with Semillion. They are full-bodied, fleshy, fresh and fragrant.


  • Cabernet Sauvignon(60%)  
    One of the most cultivated grape variety in the world. Often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, it is grown in nearly every wine producing country, thanks to its hardy constitution. It can be identified by its thick skin and some low yields. In a blend, Cabernet-Sauvignon brings tannins, structure and acidity, which are the keys to a perfect aging process. Californian Nappa Valley has espacially well worked this varietal, which is the main factor of its extrordinary recognition and success. Known for its vegetal flavors such as mint and eucalyptus, Cabernet Sauvignon can turn a wine with herbaceous dominances if harvested too green.
  • Merlot(30%)  
    It is the most representative grape of Bordeaux, covering 60% of the vineyard. It is found mainly in the Libournais, on the "right bank" of the Garonne, especially in Saint Emilion and Pomerol. This grape is easily exportable thanks to its adaptability to different soils. It matures very quickly on gravelly soils, but it is clay soils of Pomerol and Saint-Emilion that fit it best. There, the fruit is expressed all in delicacy, offering floral notes of violet, peony, and of black and red fruits. Among all Bordeaux varieties, Merlot is the one which offers roundness and smoothness to the wine. Over time, these flavors evolve towards undergrowth aromas, marked by mushrooms, truffles, tobacco and even old leather.
  • Cabernet Franc(10%)  


The history of Chateau La Vieille France goes back until the XVII th century.From family archives is known that Jean Lamothe was a wine maker at that time. He exploited his vineyards at the very same location. In 1928, Mr. Labuzan, grandfather of the present owner, began with wine bottling. He sold his wine at the market in Bordeaux. Soon he delivered his wine all over France and far abroad. Today, Michel Dogoua together with his two sons Francois and Bertrand, runs 6 acres in the Portets village. Bertrand is an oenoloogist and Francois an economist who is in control of management and export.


Graves extends the Medoc area at the river Garonne's left bank. On the left-hand side, Graves meets de wooded hills of the Gironde. On the right-hand side we find Bordeaux, Cerons and Sauternes.Quality: The red Graves wine is closely related to the Medoc. It has the same stringent character (when the wine is young), and strength as the Medoc. Graves usually has more body. It is said to be an honest wine. Like the Medoc, as it matures it's taste becomes more refined and balanced which justifies all the efforts taken.The soil contains either clay, or chalk and gravel, or iron ore called alios. In the southern parts, where white wines dominate, the soil contains mainly sand.
